Aeration & Compost
Bolster

Fall is the best time to “Bolster” your lawn with aeration, soil amendments and seeding.

Aerating your lawn and adding overseeding will thicken your turf. Bolster is a top dressing that
can be applied to your lawn to improve
the quality of your soil and give your turf a boost.

Let’s prepare your lawn for an even greener summer next year! For an estimate, click below.

Got Clover?

If not, Overseed with Clover to help maintain a green lawn.

Got Clover? Why not? Clover is a beneficial plant that some people consider to be a weed, but we at Broccolo like to give you the option of “to treat or not to treat?”. We are unique in this business with our standard of spot treatment as opposed to blanket treatment. There are many reasons you may choose to keep your clover. It acts as a natural fertilizer, fixing nitrogen in its roots and stays green in the heat/drought. Clover also brings diversity
to your yard by attracting bees and other pollinators.

Please let us know if you would like to participate in the movement to keep the clover! We can even overseed with it to introduce clover to your lawn.

What to do about that
Crabgrass

That bright green grassy plant that is crawling over good lawn in those hot sunny areas is Crabgrass. Before it gets worse and goes to seed, you can dig it, sod strip it out, or spray with a non-selective herbicide. This is the time of year to renovate your lawn by planting nice thick perennial rye and blue grass. The shorter days and less weed germination at this time of year gives your new seed a chance to get established before the
winter comes.

Plant of the Week

Diervilla (commonly called Bush Honeysuckle) is a native versatile plant that gets approximately 3′ tall. It has several colorful cultivars in Summer, bright yellow flowers and brilliant Fall foliage. It is sun-shade tolerant, deer resistant, and attracts Hummingbirds and Butterflies.
