Meet Our Instructors
Broccolo Garden Center is pleased to announce the opening of The B-friendly Farm on August 26, from 10:00am-4:00pm. 2755 Penfield Road, Fairport, NY 14450.
The B-Friendly Farm is an Ecologically Friendly Agricultural Educational Destination. The farm supports both agricultural production and biodiversity working in harmony to improve the local community.
The heart of the East Penfield farm is a large dairy barn built in 1900. Today it is an experiential farm featuring a butterfly house, laying hens, honey bees and a wildflower field. Stop by and observe the life cycle of butterflies, explore winding trails, enjoy birding opportunities, cut your own wildflowers and buy local honey.
The property also includes wonderful examples of sustainable landscaping using permeable pavers, walkways made of recycled tires, no now zones, turf grass and gardens managed through integrated pest management practices, rain gardens, rain barrels, and a green roof.
The farm has a DEC-regulated stormwater creek with a naturalized irrigation pond. Hops and soybeans are grown on the acreage.
The Garden Center hosts an ever-changing display of shade and sun plants. Local outdoor artwork is featured throughout the center. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and can answer your gardening questions. They love what they do and are inspired to encourage all ages to choose a career in the Green Industry.
