Spring Clean-up – The Broccolo Way

When performing your properties spring cleanup using our crews or your own elbow grease, we strongly recommend leaving organic material around the base of plants to protect beneficial insects, pollinators and microorganisms that will soon be emerging from the soil.

Photo is an example of good protection around a Hellebores Lenton Rose.

Cutting tall ornamental grasses to 6-8” leaves foliage that provides habitats, nesting areas and protection for birds and insects.

Once you mulch your beds, most organic material has broken down and you can lightly cover your beds with mulch keeping the protection all year.
