Nurture your garden with Healthy Soil May 24, 6-7:30pm $15 upon arrival, no registration required Broccolo Garden Center

A great garden starts with great soil! Come and learn how to create and maintain healthy, nutritious soil to grow your decorative or edible garden. You’ll learn about different soil types and their amendment, soil pH and its importance for the plant nutrient intake and the technique of composting as an easy way to keep your soil performing well. A Cornell-based pH soil test measurement demonstration will be included. The participants are encouraged to bring their own soil samples to run their own FREE test.

A part of the discussion will be area farming as source of local food. A ‘Fresh Market Local Food’ guide, including Monroe County Farmers’ Market Guide 2017 will be provided.

Instructor Jarmila Haseler is currently employed by CCE of Monroe County as an Agricultural Educator. She taught college-level crop production in the Czech Republic before coming to the US. She owns a home-garden consultant-, design- and installation business “Gardening Roots”.
