The Broccolo IPM Tree & Shrub Care Program includes:

By using a method known as “Integrated pest management” (IPM) we combine chemical treatments, cultural practices, and biological controls to manage pests to an acceptable level that will not damage to plants.

Tree Pruning

How the different species of trees and shrubs grow
Identify diseased wood that must be pruned to prevent it from spreading
Where branches should be cut to ensure proper healing
During what time of year trees/shrubs can be pruned to encourage proper flowering and branching.

Tree Aeration / Excavation

One of our most useful technologies is a pneumatic aerator. The pneumatic aerator works by injecting a jet of air under high pressure into the soil to break up heavy, compacted clay and help air or nutrients to reach plant roots.

Aerating trees efficiently loosens the soil in preparation for creating a new bed or transplanting and it allows water to penetrate into compacted clay soils.

Trees that are planted too deeply and are struggling for air are excavated.

Emerald Ash Borer

The Emerald Ash Borer, or EAB (Agrilus planipennis) has been positively identified in many areas of Rochester. It is a small, metallic-green, wood-boring beetle and deadly to emerald ash trees, but it is preventable, and not every ash tree is infested.
