Spend time with Dad and Grandpa.
Father’s Day always reminds me of some great memories.
I recall my father buying trees for us as children. They bloomed at different times of the year, and it was such joy when MY tree was in full bloom. Every year I looked forward to that time. I would sit under it and watch the bees pollinating and the birds stop by to perch for a few minutes. His love of nature and plants clearly influenced my decision to work in the landscaping industry.
As an adult, giving a tree or shrub has given me great pleasure, especially when it is something that is easily grown. The goal is to give a gift and not burden the recipient with too much care. The past few years there has been a surge and edible landscapes.
Our children loved berry picking time and it was great to see our daughter seize that joy when she came to visit with her young family last year and it happened to be perfect timing for blueberries. You can enjoy the fruits of your labor with easy to grow apple and pear trees. Create a mini-edible forest and plant berry shrubs under the fruit trees. Or create a barbeque and cocktail garden with chocolate and strawberry flavored mints, rosemary and other herbs along with peppers for grilling.
Planting a tree is a legacy, and often used as a lasting memorial to a loved one. Consider the tradition of strolling through our garden center with those you love and create living memories together. Most fathers love the photo opportunities with the old 1900 barn and the1939 Plymouth plus the 1930 old tractor. We have created a destination for you to enjoy the scene, immerse in nature and bring something home to plant your legacy. ~Laurie Broccolo
