Garden Tips for Drought

  • Water Your Garden – About an inch per week, early morning to minimize evaporation.
  • Apply Mulch –  2- to 3-inch layer of mulch keeps the soil cooler and shields the ground from direct sun. A soaker hose beneath your mulch maximizes water savings.
  • Don’t fertilize in a drought. The more a plant grows, the more moisture it needs.
  • Pull Weeds- Getting weeds out is especially important during drought so their roots don’t steal valuable moisture from the soil.
  • Deadhead Your Flowers – Remove spent blooms before they have a chance to set seed. This saves energy for your plants.

Happy Birthday to our Terrific Staff!
