Today is ROC Transit Day!Leave your car and discover Rochester…Join Broccolo in supporting this grassroots campaign organized by Reconnect Rochester to encourage Rochesterians to use public transit and go car-free for one day. Bus, walk or bike to all these great events around town. Here are a few of the events happening.Rochester area organizations can request free all-day fare cards for their employees and members and many merchants are offering deals to participants. Look for Broccolo container gardens at the center of festivities at the park on Broad Street at the corner of South Avenue.
Creating Pots with Pizazz- Using Dwarf Shrubs in Containers: Thursday, June 25, 6-8pm
Design containers for optimum performance, learn which varieties to choose, and how to pair them up for sizzling color combinations that will last all summer and well into the fall. Instructor: Christine Froehlich, landscape designer and director of RCGC. Students will receive 10% discount on any materials purchased during the class (for RCGC members, that’s a total of a 20% discount). In an unprecedented collaboration, dozens of conservation and gardening organizations joined together to form the National Pollinator Garden Network and launch a new nationwide campaign – the Million Pollinator Garden Challenge. Designed to accelerate growing efforts across America, the Network is taking action to reverse the decline of pollinating insects, such as honey bees and native bees, as well as monarch butterflies.
